YOUTH NEWS AND NOTES

 

LPC Youth Group is alive and well.  We continue to fill the food pantry, and are beginning to be very good shoppers, getting the most for our money.  We have enjoyed being a part of this important ministry.  Our big event for this month was our Luau Lock-in complete with a demonstration on how to make ribbon leis, a limbo contest, our very own palm tree, Hawaiian Pictionary (with a history lesson the Arizona Memorial), a Hawaiian buffet, and lots of games.  We were up until 4:30 a.m. - not so good for Ms. Jaime and Ms. Linda, but a good time was had by all.  June should be fun with warm weather in sight and school coming to an end.  We can't wait for summer!

 

YOUTH GROUP MISSION TRIP

 

The Youth Group is planning a mission trip to Rock Forge Neighborhood House where we will be leading a Vacation Bible School, and doing light home repair.  We are planning to leave on Sunday, June 29th and return on Thursday, July 3rd just in time for the 4th of July.  We will be staying at Rock Forge Presbyterian Church.  Rock Forge is just outside Morgantown, WV, home of WVU.  Rock Forge Presbyterian Church was formed to serve the mining community 42 years ago, and continues to serve the rural area today.  The Neighborhood House provides before and after school child care during the school year, and day care during the summer, as well as a senior program, parenting classes, and other programs throughout the year.  We will be doing fundraising for the mission trip and the estimated cost will be approximately $200 per youth for transportation, food, and materials.  If any adults are interested in participating, please let Jaime or Linda know.  We hope to have some projects for adults as well if we have any interested.  We will need to know by June 8th if you are interested.
