VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Our 2008 Vacation Bible School will be held at Lynnhaven Presbyterian Church June 16th - June 20th from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.  The theme this year is "God's Big Backyard." This year we will have stories on Miriam and her brother, Moses, the Good Samaritan, Zacchaues, as well as Peter and John.  We will learn about serving our family, friends, neighbors, community, and most of all, serving Jesus.

VBS is for children ages 3 through high school, and is not just for member of LPC.  INVITE YOUR NEIGHBORS!!!

We are still in need of help - kitchen, teaching, puppeteers, etc.  Without your help this event will not be possible.  If you can help, please see Mary Lou Ambrose or call her at the church office (340-2897).

CHURCH YARD SALE

The Building Fund Committee Yard Sale has been postponed and WILL NOT occur on June 7th.  But keep bringing your stuff, because we're still going to have it!!!  The Yard Sale will instead take place in July, so any items you can donate will still be accepted and appreciated!!!

WOMEN OF THE CHURCH
by Deacon Rose Busetti

The Presbyterian Women invite everyone to attend our annual luncheon on Saturday, July 19th, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at Carabba's Italian Grill, 739 Lynnhaven Parkway (near Lynnhaven Mall).  Separate checks will be given and we hope those who work during the week can join us for this time of fellowship.  A sign-up sheet will be in the Narthex so we can give the restaurant an accurate head count.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
by Elder Woody Brooks

After nearly 15 years of faithful and devoted service our beloved Choir Director, Corliss Faircloth, is stepping down.  Corliss has tendered her resignation effective 31 December 2008 or before if a suitable replacement has been found before then.  I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Corliss for all the wonderful years spent in service to our congregation.  She has often gone the extra mile to ensure that we have the best music for worship and has been very patient in putting up with those rowdy choir folks.  She and Gerry have been great friends and have contributed much to this church.  I know I speak for the entire Lynnhaven family when I say that Corliss and Gerry will be sorely missed at LPC.  As they prepare to move to their retirement villa in Smithfield, we wish them the best that life has to offer and pray that they will continue to be blessed as they have blessed us.

I would ask that you pray for the search committee as they begin the process of finding a replacement.  The search committee consists of Kenny George, Sr., Shirlene Imperial, Debbie Brooks, and Woody Brooks.
